These were identified by JJ Wuilbaut as Hygrocybe Punicea and confirmed at this site.

I have now found a drawing of this species in my own reference book the poor quality

of which confirms my experience that many books (and pictures) are sometimes required

to achieve an identification.

Habitat:-          Sheep and deer grazed mountain pasture.
