Unknown purple resupinate fungus

No longer unknown but I like the title





Date observed:-    5th February 1997

Habitat:-          Birch logs cut 2 months previously from recently blown down tree

                   This is growing rapidly and more pictures will be taken

Location:-         Hendre Berfedd

Development of fungus

Date:-             28th February 1997

Scale:-            x 1.25

                   A few of the patches of fungus are developing into brackets and

                   becoming a little paler in colour.



Date:-             23rd April 1997

                   Drying out and turning purple/brownish. No further structural

                   change.

Now confirmed as Chondrostereum Purpureum
